In a move that can only be labeled as an attempt to become the super-exclusive “Mean Girls” of Capitol Hill, GOP-elected officials rallied behind an agenda Sunday based largely on bullying their boss: Mr. President.
Riding their wave of supposed voter anger, Republican officials united in their determination to force these great United States into a massive two-year traffic jam.
Mainly saying they would only agree to work with the president on their terms, Republican lawmakers left little room for doubt on how they (don’t) intend to compromise and on their full intentions to force the country into a standstill until 2012, when they hope to oust President Barack Obama and bring in a “better Senate.”
We’re all for getting what we want and fighting for what we deserve, but this just isn’t going to work, America.
Although we fully applaud the GOP’s public efforts to repeal the historic health care bill that allows college students to remain on their parents’ insurance plans until they’re 26 and that mandates Americans cannot be denied health insurance for having a pre-existing condition, it just isn’t going to happen.
We’re far from swearing in the new members of Congress, and we’re already tired of the bickering.
This isn’t one big America-sized version of Team Kristin vs. Team LC. This is Team America.
But when Rep. Eric Cantor, in line to become House majority leader, says things like, “First and foremost, we’re not going to be willing to work with [Obama]...,” we realize the nation might have just been better off when the Dems had a supermajority.
At least then we got stuff done.
