Shame. Shame all around. Shame on the team and on the coaching staff, but shame on us, too.
Yes, our team has major issues; no one can deny that. But you know who else has issues? The fair-weathered fans in the crowd Saturday who had the gall to boo our quarterback.
John Brantley is not Tim Tebow. We know that. By this point, we know he’s not even close to Tebow. But he’s ours. You might even think he’s the Ron Zook of quarterbacks, but he’s ours.
You do not boo your own players, Gators. Boo Steve Addazio. Go ahead. He’s a grown man who needs to get some lessons into his skull.
Boo the other team. It’s a little crass, but whatever. But do not boo a guy who, while perhaps lacking in talent, has patiently and graciously waited years for his turn only to see an entire city turn on him. Don’t scourge Brantley for trying. Either cheer for the team you love or shut up and stay home.
The team will rebuild. Brantley will move on with his life.
Maybe even Addazio will get fired. But we don’t need you mean-spirited hypocrites there. Shame on you, students.
