UF Board member donates $2 million to chemistry program

A member ofthe UF Board of Trustees has donated $2 million to department of chemistry.

The donation will endow a professorship to help UF scientists develop advancements that will improve health care, according to statement released Monday.

Dr. Steven Scott and his wife, Rebecca, hope the gift, which will fund the hiring of a new professor, will bolster the university’s department of chemistry.

“UF can lead the way for others in innovation and discovery for the betterment of our world,” Scott said in the statement, which was released on Monday afternoon.
