Kids from around Gainesville got a spooky taste of sorority life Thursday night.
Ghouls, Goblins and Greeks is an annual neighborhood excursion through Sorority Row organized by UF Panhellenic Council’s junior division.
During the event, which ran from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., each of the 16 sorority houses picked a theme.
More than 100 small Super Marios, princesses and gladiators played games and took candy from places like Shrek’s swamp, Hogwarts castle or Dr. Seuss’ playhouse.
Megan Merrill, 20, one of the organizers of the event, said she sees Ghouls, Goblins and Greeks as a way to give back.
“It’s a way to get to know and include the community in Gainesville,” she said.
The sororities began planning at the beginning of the fall semester.
Tom Hayslett, who was visiting from West Virginia with his children, enjoyed the gathering for its attention to detail.
“The kids loved playing in Candyland,” he said. “Those girls did a really great job with it.”
