In honor of National Audiology Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month, the UF Speech & Hearing Clinic and the Gainesville chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of Florida are offering “Living With Hearing Loss” classes.

The program, which is being held at the United Way of North Central Florida, 6031 NW First Place, teaches those with hearing loss ways to cope with the impairment and provides family and friends with strategies for increasing communication. There will be two programs, each containing all four classes. The first program started Oct. 13 and goes until Nov. 17. The second will start Nov. 24 and continue until Dec. 15.

“The purpose of the classes is to improve the quality of life,” said Patricia B. Kricos, a UF speech, language and hearing sciences professor who teaches the program.
