Outgoing senators in the Student Senate gave their goodbye addresses before the newly-elected senators were sworn in during Tuesday night's meeting.

Senators said goodbye to friends and colleagues and gave advice to the incoming senators.

"What's important, that in all of your dealings, is that you work hard and are honest," said Alan Yanuck, an outgoing Student Alliance party senator.

Several senators thanked Glenda Frederick, the Student Government program assistant.

"She is the dictionary, the handbook," said Unite Party Senator Jesse Sherman.

After he spoke, Sherman received a standing ovation from about half of the attendees.

Outgoing Senate President Kara Olesky, who represents the Unite Party, asked senators to work together and disregard party lines.

"Put the campaigning aside," she said. "It's time to earn what you've worked for."

The Senate also elected the Senate President, President Pro Tempore and Replacement- and Agenda-At-Large officers, but they were not elected by press time.
