Gainesville police are looking for the witness of a hit-and-run accident that occurred just outside the O’Connell Center parking lot on Oct. 14.

A late model, two-door Honda failed to yield at a stop sign before turning on to Southwest Second Avenue, causing 21-year-old Cassie Martinez to fall off her motor scooter, according to a police report.

The driver of the Honda, 25-year-old Amanda Chodkowski, left the scene of the accident.

Martinez suffered second- and third-degree road burns along the right side of her body along with additional minor bruising and cuts.

Chodkowski denies making contact with the scooter, telling police that she saw the scooter wobble and fall on its own accord.

An unidentified female witness provided Martinez with the license tag information for the Honda but left no contact information.

Police would like to speak with the witness. Anyone with information can contact Gainesville police at 352-334-2400.
