Minzie, who went by the nickname “Tizzy,” was a Taylor, the name given to fans of rap artist Wiz Khalifa, and he had VIP tickets for one of his concerts.
As a freshman at Florida State University, Minzie had planned to go to the artist’s show on Nov. 3 in Tallahassee.
His friends have been repeatedly tweeting messages to Khalifa, hoping that the rapper will agree to give a shout- out to Minzie during the concert.
“It would be awesome if Wiz Khalifa could just give him a shout out for like two seconds,” said Santa Fe College student Brittney Kelly, who met Minzie over the summer.
The two are “married” on Facebook, and she said that he was known for his positive outlook on life.
“I’ve literally never heard anything bad talked about him. Everyone loved him,” Kelly said.
She said that by Tuesday friends had sent more than 1,000 tweets to the artist.
Most of the tweets are variations of this: “Give Tizzy a shout-out @ tally, FL show. He repped taylor gang & passed away the 16th. It would mean the world.”
In addition to Twitter, some have chosen to get permanent reminders of Minzie by getting tattoos of his life motto, “Living the dream.”
