The University Police Department released UF's crime statistics for the past three years on Friday.
All UF students received an e-mail from UPD with a copy of the report, entitled "UF Together For A Safe Campus."
The report, published annually, is required from any university that participates in federal financial aid programs, said Lt. Robert Wagner, who wrote the report.
Most of the crimes committed on campus involved property theft as opposed to violent crimes against people, also known as persons crimes.
"We don't see any major concerns with our numbers," said UPD Capt. Jeff Holcomb. "You can see we don't have a high number of persons crimes on campus. It's showing that's a very safe environment, one we want to maintain at UF."
Holcomb said the report is helpful to parents who might be concerned about their kids' safety while attending the university.
He also said people appreciate when they can actually see the numbers versus just hearing about percent raises or decrease.
"When you hear crime's up or crime's down, what does that mean?" he said.
New to the report this year was a fire safety segment, which details how many fires have occurred on campus and how much property damage was caused in the past three years.
The addition of the fire safety portion was because the Clery Act, the law that mandates the report, changed to require the university to include such statistics, Wagner said.
