Student Government party leaders were impressed with the turnout for slating Tuesday, which marked the final day of interviews for those hoping to run for SG positions.
“We wish we could slate them all,” said Micah Lewis, Unite Party spokesman.
According to Supervisor of Elections Amanda Griffin, a total of 420 people qualified to run for Student Senate seats over the past three days.
Yevgen Sautin, communications director for the Student Alliance party, said students who slated with the Student Alliance Party, of whom many were freshmen and sophomores, bought into the party’s message.
“The message that SG is broken very much resonates with them,” he said.
Progress Party leader Dave Schneider said that even though the turnout for his party might have been lower than expected, he is still satisfied with the quality of students who came out for the slating.
“This is the ticket that I wanted,” he said.
SG elections will be held on Sept. 28 and 29.
