The idea of an exaggerated tag at a respected university does seem childish, but there’s nothing wrong with that if it brings people together at UF and in schools across the country.
As a former player in two games and one of the referees in a third, I can easily say one of my best college experiences was Humans vs. Zombies.
I became closer to my friends who were playing, met many new ones and never had more fun playing what feels like a live-action video game.
In fact, by the November game, researchers
from other schools are coming to observe students playing for student
interaction studies, bringing other schools closer to us.
Everyone who organizes the game works very hard for those playing and the time frame is very carefully planned. It’s not during the time of a home football game and it’s at a time when exams are not as heavy.
We want everyone to join in--to be a part of what can be a great memory.
