National Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) Day is Thursday, and organizations at UF want to raise awareness about sexual assault on campus.

The events will be held on the Reitz Union Colonnade from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to inform and educate students about sexual assault and rape.

This event will provide resources for victims and people who are interested in learning more about how to reduce their risk of being sexually assaulted.

Students will have the opportunity to play beer pong without the beer. They can also win candy while learning statistics about rape and sexual assault.

Representatives from the organizations will be walking around with umbrellas decorated with facts about how to prevent sexual assault and rape.

Laura Kalt, victim advocate counselor and community education project coordinator for the Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center, said communication between partners or any two people is important and wants to educate students as to why.

RAINN Day is the first of many upcoming events at UF for the organizations to inform students about sexual violence.
