Armed with a fistful of condoms and a slew of information, Condom Miranda will be making a visit to UF this Thursday to educate students one of society’s most taboo subjects.

The event, which will be held today at 7 p.m. in the Broward basement, is a part of the Broward Area Council’s “Sex Talks,” a series of discussions designed to educate students on topics relating to sex.

A similar talk was held last year, and, according to BAC President Eleonora Melikstova, was very successful.

“There are more pressures in college, and the presentation shows you that you don’t have to be abstinent; just do it in a safe way,” she said. “When we can relate to a story, we’re more likely to listen.”

Melikstova went on to explain that Condom Miranda not only focuses on an important issue for college students but presents it in an entertaining way so students will want to participate. As opposed to elementary and middle school health classes, sex in college is not only comprehensible, but a strong reality for many.

The event is free and open to all. Refreshments and condoms will be available.
