850 humans, zombies begin another battle

The zombies are back.

The latest battle between Humans and Zombies begins today and will continue through Thursday.

The game, known to followers as HvZ, involves groups of students playing as humans and zombies.

The humans use Nerf guns and balled-up socks to defend themselves from being tagged and transformed into a zombie.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 850 students were registered to play.

“There’s a lot of new freshmen and upperclassmen participating in this round who heard about the game from the mini-game in the summer,” HvZ player Anthony Cardona said.

“We don’t want people to say, ‘oh, it’s those kids with the Nerfs again,’” game moderator T.J. Boyd said. “We try to make as little impact on non-players as possible.”

Editor's note: It was incorrectly reported the Humans v. Zombies game will last through  Thursday. The game will continue until Sunday.
