Lawns have changed. Watching "CSI Miami" is no longer safe. And don't even think about checking the mail.
Unless you've been hibernating in an igloo awaiting the beginning of another school year or in, well, Canada, you're no doubt exhausted by the onslaught of TV advertisements that tell Floridians it's time to "get to work;" the mailed leaflets throwing opponents under the political bus for voting for this bill or that bill; and the abundance of political signs dominating lawns everywhere.
Yes, it's primary season, Gators. It's the time of the year when lawn gnomes and pink plastic flamingo lawn ornaments are traded for portable political pin-ups, infomercials are traded for attack ads and Five Star mailed coupons are exchanged for mailings with Jeff Greene's billionaire mug.
But as much as we're tired of the negativity, the constant reminders of who's better than whom, and the fact that we just want to watch "Big Brother"without another series of mud slinging, we also know that today's an important day.
And you should, too.
If you haven't voted in today's primary election already, the Editorial Board encourages you to exercise your civic duty and vote.
And breathe easy - there's only about two more months worth of a whole new series of ads, mailings and vamped-up signs to hijack your mailboxes and lawns until November's Election Day.
Let's get to work, Gators.
