Despite losing nine players to the 2010 NFL Draft, the Gators are still entering the season with high expectations.
Earlier this month, Florida was ranked third in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. On Saturday, the AP preseason poll had UF at No. 4.
“[The polls] mean absolutely nothing because we are still going out there and playing this season,” DE Justin Trattou said.
Alabama, Ohio State and Boise State were the only teams ranked ahead of the Gators. Six Southeastern Conference schools were featured in the AP poll’s top 25.
“We’re not talking about [the polls] at all,” running backs coach Stan Drayton said. “Right now we are trying to fine tune who we are as a football team and identify our character, what our demeanor is and what our personality is. That’s not something we’re focused in on right now.”
