To: The UF Freshmen and Transfer Students
We know you have worked very hard to get here, and we are happy that you chose UF.
You have probably heard how selective UF is in its admissions process. You are all, without a doubt, a highly qualified group of students. You have what it takes to be successful in your college career, and throughout a lifetime of learning. We pledge to provide you with an exceptional college experience.
How can you maximize your experience at UF? During your time here, you will have the chance to broaden your intellectual base. Be curious about the world around you and the people in this world. Your problem-solving abilities will be sharpened, and your communication skills enhanced by working with some of the nation’s best and brightest teachers. Find your passions — academically, philosophically, socially and culturally.
Your time at UF will be about new experiences and personal growth. You can mature in a rich and stimulating academic environment. UF will be fun, but you will also be challenged to work hard here, so that you emerge from your college years better prepared to meet the world.
We live in an extremely competitive world. It is a world full of problems. I hope that by the time you graduate, you are committed to solving many of them. Our job as faculty is to provide you with the tools and skills to solve those problems.
