Things have changed since you left for the summer.

A Subway popped up next to Turlington Plaza, Panda Express and Papa Johns are now available for your convenience in the Reitz Union, the Southwest Recreational Center seems to have more treadmills than UF students now that the construction is done and Tim Tebow is playing in preseason games for the Denver Broncos.

But the change doesn’t stop there.

The alligatorSports staff has decided to follow that trend with some new features for the section.

While they may not pack the same emotional impact felt when watching Tebow take snaps for another team, here they are, nonetheless.

Follow us on Twitter: The four alligatorSports columnists now have their own personal Twitter accounts. You can find each of our handles under the column mug shots (see about two inches to the right for mine).

I can’t promise we will be as entertaining as Kanye West, but I can guarantee you will impress your friends with some sweet news regarding UF sports.

We provide updates from football practices and sometimes share our opinions on  daily happenings.

These four new Twitters join the already established alligatorSports Twitter account that spits out the most important news on everything Gators athletics.

Make sure to start following us when you get back from your first class today.

The Rally: This is a new weekly feature in which two alligatorSports columnists will discuss or debate a topic.

It will be a back-and-forth conversation or argument that is sure to stimulate the opinions of readers.

Make sure to send in your comments and opinions on “The Rally” subject to sports@alligator.org.

Topics will range from controversial issues to sports mixed with some entertainment, like this week’s edition involving Tyler Jett and Mike McCall.

Mailbag: We want to hear your comments on columns, stories, news surrounding Gators sports and, as mentioned above, “The Rally.” The best of these will be featured in the newspaper for everybody to see.

The alligatorSports staff wants our readers’ voices to be heard, and if you have an interesting take on something, we will run it. Just make sure to send your name, year and major along with your comments.

Podcast:  Make sure to listen to the alligatorSports Podcast. It isn’t new, but something you should still be aware of.

We usually record two times a week and talk everything Gators sports.

You can subscribe to the show on iTunes to ensure you don’t miss an episode.

UF volleyball coach Mary Wise, gymnastics coach Rhonda Faehn, swiiming and diving coach Gregg Troy and track and field coach Mike Holloway have made appearances on the podcast to talk about their teams.

That’s all from me for now. But if you are a little down about the start of the semester, just remember there are 12 days until the Gators open their season against Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 4.
