Attention Congress,
The continuing tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico only underscores what we have known for decades — that all life must reach balance with the Earth and with all other life. Life on this planet is completely interdependent. Carbon cycles to and fro, passing through all life forms and returning to them as the cycle continues.
We must learn to live sustainably on this planet, utilizing the best technologies that our collective minds can conjure and employ.
Congress and the president must act now to pass robust transformative energy reform legislation in 2010 to promote a swift transition to renewable, clean, sustainable forms of energy and their more efficient use. This is the change needed to revitalize America and the world. This is the legislation America needs to invigorate our economy. This is the most robust action we can take to improve our national security. This is the policy that will inspire, educate and employ the next generation of scientists. This is the action urgently needed to protect our fragile and rapidly dwindling natural world. We must act now and strike while the iron is hot.
