Gainesville Police Department arrested a woman Tuesday morning after she decided to fight the police  arresting her friend for a DUI.

Sandra Barnard, 32, would not have been charged if she hadn’t disobeyed police orders to stay out of the roadway and avoid the police car her friend was sitting in, according to a GPD report.

Barnard ran up to the car and jumped into the backseat with her friend, shouting obscenities and slamming the door shut when police ordered her to get out, the report said.

Officer John Koprowski tried to remove Barnard by her wrists, but she spun around and started kicking him, hitting him in his chest and thighs, according to the report.

After being handcuffed and placed in the car, Barnard continued to kick so much that officers feared she’d break the windows. After several orders to stop, Barnard was restrained.
