Gainesville Fashion Week exited in the most glamorous and fabulous fashion upon it’s final runway event Saturday night. With previous collections being dedicated heavily to the ladies, designer Mikho Karajito served up some serious male time. Shirtless, sexy male models joined the likes of the girl oiled up in a collection of skimpy swimsuits. While many of the male swimwear was similar to that of Speedos, they were far more chic—bearing cool purple or gray tones with a bright and mod standout piece imprinted on each piece.
Pigskins and Ponytails, by far one the most original designer names, dedicated their Spring collection to prepping for the upcoming UF football season—and it couldn’t have been unveiled on a more appropriate day than the premier of the annual Orange and Blue game. The collection peeled from the usual boring blue and orange dresses and offered for a different spin on gator spirit with chic cuts that fell comfortably – all of course with fantastic orange and blue tones.
The much-anticipated collection of designer BobbyK was saved for the finale, and that it was. BobbyK utilized an array of browns, yellows, and teals for his spring collection all with a unique spin untouched by GFW’s other showcased designers. He toyed with making brilliant statements through glam, shimmering dresses and dressing up solid prints with leather compliments. All of his looks were sexy, but in their own way—parting from the usual notion that shorter means more glamorous. He found ways to achieve femininity in a classic way with a modern twist.
