Students in the College of Education will display their artwork created for class for all of UF to see today.

The art show, which starts today at 10:30 p.m. in the Norman Hall basement, combined technology, creativity and fun into a student’s classwork, according to Christopher Sessums, professor for the School of Teaching and Learning.

Sessums said students recreated the poem, “The Red Wheelbarrow,” written by William Carlos Williams, and one of his photos.

“Often times, teaching and learning are stripped of many creative aspects,” Sessums said. “This was a way I thought we could spice things up and have fun applying what we’re learning in a different way.”

Students in the Integrating Technology into the Secondary Curriculum course started preparing for the art show since the third week of class and could only discuss the project using social media like Facebook and Twitter.

Monik Markus, the documentarian of the art show, said it was difficult to tell if the show was going in the right direction because of this requirement.
