Like many people in the UF community, I would like to know why five University Police Department officers were unable to physically restrain a student with disabilities who was “armed” with a cane?

It is also hard to understand why armed police officers felt their lives were in danger from a mentally ill person ranting and raving in a locked apartment.

Did UPD officer Keith Smith really feel so scared of Mr. Adu-Brempong that he needed to shoot him in the face?

Who was more of a public threat?

I’d say the police were.

Keith Smith is one of a group of police officers who was reprimanded for throwing eggs at women from their cars in Gainesville last summer.

At an absolute minimum, this officer’s poor judgment and aggressive tendencies are a threat to public safety.

I find it absurd that the victim of this shooting is being blamed by UPD for use of excessive force.

This smells like a cover-up.

Shame on you.
