Matthew Christ: To which political party do you belong? I couldn’t tell after reading yesterday’s column. Maybe if you had spent a few words glorifying one of the two parties, I could have figured it out. Perhaps some shameless, ruthless bashing of all things related to your political opposition would have helped. I turn to the opinions section of the Alligator to see stubborn opining, not acceptance and compromise.
Still, it was pleasing to note that your references to Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the entirety of the GOP weren’t hypocritical at all. I sincerely appreciate the obvious efforts you made to deter further polarization betwixt the two major political factions. It’s great to see a columnist displaying tact and open-mindedness in regard to politics. Thank you so much for avoiding one-sided rhetoric in your writing.
It didn’t help, though, that you objectively accepted both the virtues and vices of the bill; next time try to be more hateful and abstract in your points. I, for one, would enjoy reading a column filled with flourishes of propaganda-style diction.
Or maybe I’m just an illiterate, unscrupulous, angry, misguided, Republican buffoon.
