Andy Samberg is a Nigerian prince.

Or at least that’s what he said Tuesday night at the O’Connell Center when asked to share something the audience of about 5,000 wouldn’t already know.

The Emmy award-winning writer and Saturday Night Live comedian is also a member of Lonely Island, the musical comedy group responsible for penning the YouTube sensation “I’m On A Boat.”

Samberg was interviewed by College of Journalism professor Mike Foley.

When Foley asked Samberg how Jewish he is, Samberg joked, “On a scale of Hitler to Moses? I’d probably say I’m somewhere between Larry David and Steven Spielberg.”

Accent Speakers Bureau and Jewish Awareness Month sponsored the event. Samberg was paid $72,000, according to Student Government Finance records. According to Accent, Samberg said he did not want any photographs taken of him at the event.
