Woman arrested for screwdriver attack over Facebook message

A Gainesville woman was arrested Thursday for attacking her 2-year-old child’s father with a screwdriver.

Jaime Pelletier, 30, got into an argument with him over a Facebook message left on his phone, according to a Gainesville Police Department report.

As the pair fought, Pelletier became physically violent and picked up a small screwdriver. She cut his arms and chest with the tool, according to the report.

After being pushed away, Pelletier put down the screwdriver and grabbed a pair of scissors, again cutting his chest and arms. By the time police arrived, the man also had visible scratches on his back and nose, although none of the wounds were life-threatening.

After being read her rights, Pelletier said she had no idea how her partner got his injuries and that she didn’t remember what happened in the apartment, according to the report.
