Mark McShera’s letter to the editor Tuesday was an example of how disgusting, vile, hateful and forgetful members of the Student Alliance party can be.
In his rambling rage, filled with factual errors and half-truths, he launched personal attacks against one of the most fair and bipartisan leaders on this campus, Ashton Charles.
Ashton Charles once stepped aside in an election for a Senate position to allow Mark McShera to step in.
Her reasoning? It was important to her to allow more minority party representation in Senate.
In his letter, McShera accused Charles of not getting in Senate on her own merits (even though she was elected twice by overwhelming margins) but instead through the secret workings of a corrupt system.
This sort of twisted McCarthyism has never worked for you, Mark. When you ran a slanderous and exceedingly negative campaign with the Orange and Blue Party last year, you were shot down by students who wanted to hear about your experience and ideas.
Now, the Student Alliance party is polluting the Alligator with this filth again. I speak for my fellow students when I say: Enough is enough.
I want the Student Alliance party to put its money where its mouth is and do as the Unite Party is doing: Run a campaign about positive ideas and values that cares more about displaying its own candidates’ experience than attacking the opposing candidates.
