What could be more romantic than a candle-lit dinner, roses and chocolates? Try working up a sweat with your significant other.

RecSports is offering partner yoga and salsa classes on Thursday in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. Each class begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Recreation and Fitness Center and lasts one hour, said Mariely Jimenez, program assistant for group fitness.

A Gator 1 Card must be presented to participate.

In the yoga class, participants will use their partners to create a deeper stretch and to hold poses better, class instructor Alyssa Maki said.

The class can be done with a friend, a significant other or a randomly assigned partner.

“Partner yoga is a great activity for a couple because it helps you learn to work with one another,” Maki said. “It opens up lines of communication, and it can be a fun time to be with each other trying something new.”

The new salsa class will teach casino-style salsa, which has participants pass their partners around the circle as the song plays on, Jimenez said.

“It doesn’t matter if you come to the class with someone or by yourself,” Jimenez said. “This type of salsa is very social, so you are sure to meet someone new.”
