The Unite Party announced Senate President Ashton Charles as its candidate for Student Body president Monday afternoon.
Unite Party Spokesman Ben Meyers introduced Charles to a crowd of about 20 people on Turlington Plaza at around 3 p.m.
After a brief statement announcing her intention to run for the highest office in Student Government, Charles said she will be interviewing candidates to fill the rest of the executive ticket over the next week.
She said she'll be looking for one quality while searching for her runningmates.
“It’s about having people that genuinely care about this university,” she said.
Although the party is still finalizing a platform, both Meyers and Charles said there will be an emphasis on transparency and communication between SG and students.
The Student Alliance Party, the party resulting from the merging of the Orange and Blue Party and the Progress Party, announced former Orange and Blue Party Sen. Ben Cavataro as its candidate for Student Body president on Wednesday.
