Two killed in house fire Wednesday morning, yet to be identified

The State Fire Marshall’s office is investigating the cause of a fire that burned a Gainesville home to the ground Wednesday morning, killing the two inside.

At about 12:15 a.m., Alachua County Department of Public Safety personnel reached the wood-framed home, 20294 SE 219th Ave. They found the house on fire, according to an Alachua County Fire Rescue  release.

The two bodies found in the rubble have not been identified, according to fire rescue spokeswoman Carol Davis, but two of the house's residents were unaccounted for.

The third resident wasn’t home at the time of the fire, according to the release.

The department remained at the scene throughout the night to control the burning debris and prevent the blaze from reigniting, according to the press release. Volunteer fire departments also responded.
