Police find man with bag full of drug items

A 54-year-old man was arrested after Gainesville Police Department found three different prescription drugs as well as hypodermic needles, a cut straw and a burnt spoon in his car Sunday.

Luke Segnitz, of 16142 16th Lane in Wildwood, Fla., was found slumped over his steering wheel after police received a call that he’d been driving erratically, police said.

Police were notified by a witness that Segnitz had drugs in a black bag.

Upon questioning, Segnitz denied any involvement and refused to be searched, GPD said.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene and sniffed out the black makeup bag, which contained 22 pills of Morphine Sulfate, 5 1/2 pills of Xanax and 39 Suboxone pills, the report stated.

Police also found a rope and a lighter upon searching Segnitz’s car.

Segnitz was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and one count of possession of narcotic equipment, police said.

Segnitz’s bail was set at $17,000.
