Aspiring student artists now have a place to record their material and network with other musicians thanks to a new campus club.
The Independent Music Society, which started at the beginning of the fall semester, was originally created to help students find a place to showcase their talents in recording, producing, singing or playing an instrument.
The newly formed club is working to complete its first album, “Holidays with IMS" and hopes to release it in the first week of December.
The CD will feature 10 to 12 songs, including “Baby Please Come Home,” “Silent Night,” and “The First Noel/Hava Nagila.”
Davis Tiblier, the club’s creator, said the club plans to ask for a $1 donation for the CD.
Tiblier, a junior telecommunication productions major, owns recording equipment and said he records music as a hobby.
Tiblier said he started talking with other musicians on campus and realized there is a strong presence of singers and song writers.
He said UF students need a club that allows them to record their own material to share with family and friends.
