I'm a Gator, and I read the Alligator every day. Tommy Maple's Thursday column is one of the worst I have read and one of the most obvious examples of an author not doing his research.

First of all, just because a manager, owner and coach of a sports team decides to acquire a specific player does not mean the entire city is in favor of it. I live in and was in Philadelphia this summer when they acquired Michael Vick. There was an incredible outcry from Philadelphia fans. So many people were disappointed and there were even people protesting in front of the stadium. People have given up season tickets and vowed to attend no more games because of what the Eagles decided to do. Don't assume that everyone is in favor of the idea.

Quite frankly, I am not sure what the point of this column even is. Are you upset with the Eagles? Philadelphia? From this article it's pretty apparent that the author has never really experienced Philly. Philadelphia is extremely rich in history and art, and clearly the author has no appreciation for culture. I don't think the entire city of Philadelphia should be looked down on because of one team's decision to acquire one player. Yes, Philadelphia has some of the most knowledgeable and passionate sports fans out there but in no way does this make them bad people. This makes Philly a great city to visit and live in.

Go Phillies! Go Eagles! Go Gators!
