The Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion will be transformed into a magical world, just in time for Halloween, complete with dancers, cross-dressers, an accordion player, pianists and video projections.
UF's College of Fine Arts presents the fall 2009 BFA Dance Showcase: "Away We Fall," which will run from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1.
It will be directed by Kristin O'Neal and Neta Pulvermacher.
"It showcases the talent and creativity of all the BFA dance majors and the final projects of the graduating seniors," said Courtney Baron, a UF senior dance major.
Many of the pieces deal with personal issues such as losing a loved one and coming to terms with one's cultural heritage.
The fall BFA Showcase is offering two unique programs to the public.
"Audiences don't want to miss either one of them,"O'Neal said.
"The performers are going beyond what the public could think modern dance is or could be," O'Neal said. " They are going for full theatricality,"
Audience members are encouraged to bring tissues for their tears and laughter.
Tickets are available through the University Box Office located at the end of the Reitz Union Colonnade. Tickets for programs A and B are $9.
