By now, you might've heard of Joe Wilson and his inability to hold his tongue. If you haven't, here's the story:
During President Obama's address to the joint session of Congress and the nation Wednesday night, Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) was heard
shouting "You lie!" for all to hear. Wilson's outburst was in response to Obama's statement that the health care "reforms (he's) proposing will not cover those who are here illegally."
My question is, what's this child doing in Congress? The incident felt like an infant crying in church. No, it's worse. The baby wouldn't know any better. It was more like a grown man yelling out, "God who?" in the middle of Communion.
Wilson's apology, which was three sentences long, called his actions "inappropriate," "regrettable" and "lacking civility." Yeah, no kidding. Isn't this apology a little sparse considering he blatantly disrespected the highest elected official in this country, and maybe the world?
The President's chief of staff has accepted Wilson's apology, and Democrats in Congress have come out saying they don't want to emphasize the event for fear that it might overshadow the president's address. I agree. I just thought the Student Body should hear about this disrespectful, immature representative, if only so that he is never elected to public office again.
Much more important though, was the president's speech. So if you haven't seen it already, go find out what your president had to say about health care reform.
