I sincerely hope the entire UF financial sector is slated for a thorough overhaul. It is nearing the end of the third week of classes, and there is still no financial aid, much less any noted 'progress' on ISIS. I have been to the Registrar's Office, Financial Affairs and Financial Services (including my dean's office) several times, and the response is always the same. No one takes responsibility, but everyone is quick with excuses and a shove out the door when in reality, it's one monetary menage a trois.
That is unacceptable. I consider myself a patient man, but when I'm facing eviction because of UF's bureaucratic bullshit, I say bullocks to patience and demand answers.
I know there is a miracle "emergency loan" available, but that's not the point. Why does this avoidable situation exist in the first place? Talk about a setup. Disburse financial aid BEFORE classes begin and leave the fiscal responsibility to US to pay our academic bills.
Why does SFA only process loans/waivers Mondays and Wednesdays in a school of about 50,000 students? Why no explanations accompanying the cryptic fluctuations/revisions on ISIS? Shame on you, UF, for giving the "We're here for you, the students" spiel and failing to make good on the financial end.
I'm not sure which is worse: how it seems UF intentionally places roadblocks to retain our financial aid as long as possible (ie 'Verification'), or the amount of generated interest UF makes as the millions of our financial aid sit in the UF bank account.
