If I knew Student Government elections would be like this, I wish they would have simply been a popularity or hotness contest.
With all these letters to the editor, articles and horror stories about SG meetings, it's clear that this is real, corrupt, dirty politics.
It's especially reeking from an ever-so-popular party. My friend (who is too overqualified to even run for Senate) lost simply because her opponent's brother was in Senate five years ago. Fair? I think not; and she's not exactly the most competent candidate, either.
When talking about another friend's candidacy, the best part is hearing my friends saying, "Sorry, I can't vote for him. My sorority won't let me." Really? What happened to voting for the issues and not personality?
Just remember to vote, and remember to think about exactly whom you're voting for when you're reading the "environmental" platform on glossy, nonrecyclable paper.
