Progress Party President Dave Schneider has nothing to hide.
He spoke on Turlington Plaza Wednesday afternoon about the Progress Party's latest initiative, which will release voting records as public information.
"Right now there's a big push for transparency," Schneider said. "But you can only have real transparency when everyone decides to do it."
Progress Party candidates running for Senate seats signed a waiver, which yielded their rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, complying with the initiative.
Schneider said, on average, only two out of 10 students vote in campus elections. He hopes this action of the Progress Party will encourage students to vote.
"I don't blame people for not voting," Schneider said.
The Progress Party will also make videos of meetings, attendance records and e-mails pertaining to SG available to the public.
Schneider is challenging the other parties to follow suit.
"The best way to do things is leading by example," Schneider said.
Student Body President Jordan Johnson has already signed the waiver and encouraged other SG officials to do so.
