It was no Swamp smackdown, but No. 1 Florida did enough to win its school-record 13th straight game Saturday night 23-13.
The Gators (3-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) were led by, no surprise, quarterback Tim Tebow, who was 14 of 19 for 115 yards and interception but was held without a passing touchdown, breaking his NCAA-record 30-game streak.
Tebow also rushed 24 times for 76 yards but had a costly fumble deep in Tennessee territory when Florida was poised to open the 23-6 score even wider.
The Volunteers followed their gameplan of pounding the run and Montario Hardesty finished with 96 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Hardesty's touchdown in the fourth quarter was the first allowed by UF this season.
