She may not have won NBC's "Last Comic Standing," but Tracey Ashley was the only comic standing Wednesday night at the Orange and Brew.
Ashley, who was brought by the Reitz Union Board Entertainment, was paid $1,700 to come perform at UF.
Oscar Loor, co-director of the Lecturers and Comedians Committee for RUB Entertainment said Ashley was chosen when members of the committee heard her speak at the National Association for Campus Activities conference last spring.
Ashley kept the crowd of about 60 entertained with jokes that ranged from Michelle Obama, breast implants, strip clubs and slavery.
Co-director Tiffany Whitten said that although she had never seen Ashley perform in person before Wednesday night, she knew the college crowd would take to her humor.
"I've seen clips of her before and they're hilarious," Whitten said, smiling. "She's very diversified and can reach out to a lot of different audiences."
Whitten said after careful planning, Ashley was chosen because her humor fits the college crowd.
"It was definitely worth every penny and more," Whitten said.
