Kathleen Long, dean of UF's College of Nursing, has been tapped as one of the finalists for the presidency of Georgia Southern University, located in Statesboro, Ga.
Long will meet with university officials this week for three days and take part in campus and community forums, including one today, according to a GSU press release.
She is one of six finalists.
Coincidentally, UF announced Wednesday that Long will oversee the area of Faculty Development in Academic Affairs beginning Tuesday.
The position includes responsibility for programs such as the Teacher/Scholar of the Year award, the Teacher/Adviser of the Year award and the New Faculty Orientation, according to a memo sent to UF officials.
Long has been dean of the nursing college since 1995.
E-mails sent late Wednesday afternoon asking who might replace Long if she leaves were not returned.
