After hearing many people voice their concerns over the possible funding decreases from our Collegiate Readership Program, I wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight on a few things and hopefully assuage some of your fears.

Over the last few years The New York Times has suffered from a steady decline of readership that has affected their bottom line. In turn, their rates have gone up as they try to survive this dark period for print media. Thus we have been working with them to be able to continue to provide the best services for our student and apologize for the momentary gap in delivery. We are expecting delivery to resume this coming Monday.

We at Student Government recognize the importance of The New York Times and USA Today as an invaluable service to the student body for important information and promise to work diligently to ensure that the Grey Lady and other respected papers remain available on campus. One way everyone can help is decreasing our reliance on the unsustainable paper edition and using the online edition of the Times that is free for anyone who wishes to read it.

Thank you all for voicing your concerns and engaging your elected officials. I hope we can all unite to work together toward solving problems like this in the future.
