After almost hitting an officer with his car in a Shands at UF parking garage, a Marion County man was arrested by University Police Department Friday.
At about 5 p.m., UPD got a call from the Alachua County Sheriff/s Office stating Maonucle Evans, 21, who had three outstanding arrest warrants, was at Shands at UF visiting a patient. Officers found Evans in a nearby parking garage driving a white Buick, said Detective Michael Metz.
When a UPD officer saw that Evans was trying to exit through the entrance, he stood between the car and the entrance gate. Evans attempted to drive the car into the officer but then reversed, Metz said.
Evans was finally stopped, taken out of the car and handcuffed. He was arrested and charged with two felonies including aggravated assault and driving with a suspended license.
