A band that fuses sounds from all over the world will release their new CD after performing in Downtown Gainesville on Friday.

HuDost, will come to Gainesville to take part in the Free Friday concert series at the Downtown Community Plaza. The performance is scheduled from 8 to 10 p.m.

David Ballard, who headed the Free Fridays program for the past year and a half, said it's a great way to bring people downtown while also supporting Gainesville's many talented, local artists. The city of Gainesville is paying HuDost $350.

Jemal Wade, who along with Moksha Sommer, of Montreal, makes up the musical core of HuDost, is a former resident of Gainesville.

He returns to the city to promote the band's new album, "Trapeze," which can be purchased on the band's Web site, www.hudost.com.

In a recent press release, HuDost is described as an "experimental, indie, world rock group," whose sound ranges from "Alternative World Music" to what they call "Country and Eastern."

According to a press release, HuDost has toured the U.S., Canada, Europe and Turkey. They've also performed at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla., and worked with such artists as 1970's rocker Jefferson Starship and alternative country singer and songwriter Neko Case.

HuDost will be joined on stage by dancers Marguerite Barnett and Sanctuary Yoga, and puppeteers from the Santa Fe College Theatre Department lead by Gregg Jones.

"It's going to be an extravaganza of a show," Ballard said.

The show is presented by the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs and sponsored by Sanctuary Yoga, the Florida School of Massage, Santa Fe Community College and Leonardo's 706.

Immediately following the performance, there will be a CD release party and signing at Leonardo's 706 on West University Avenue.

Ballard said he's looking forward to the show, which he believes anyone can enjoy.
