Andy Mee can do it all.
When Santa Fe College (24-17, 13-6 Mid-Florida Conference) played Florida Community College at Jacksonville on Wednesday, Mee was a jack of all trades.
Two home runs, check. Five strikeouts in two innings, check. Four RBIs, check.
One of Mee's home runs proved to be crucial, as the Saints defeated the Stars 7-4 thanks to Mee's three-run walk-off home run.
"We have Andy Mee on our team, and that is all that matters," SFC coach Johnny Wiggs said. "He has been our MVP all year."
Both SFC and FCCJ scored two runs in the first inning and were tied again at 4-4 during the sixth. It looked as though extra innings would be in store for the two teams, which last played each other Saturday.
During the bottom of the ninth, after Tyler Cook walked and Jardian Thomas hit a single, Mee came to bat.
"I felt pretty confident in my swing," Mee said. "I hoped I would be thrown a fastball, and I was."
Thomas, who had two hits against FCCJ, scored 3 of the Saints' 7 runs. Catcher Brett Bozeman was the only other Saint to have an RBI for the game.
Starting pitcher Daley Cox pitched 6 2/3 innings, struck out seven batters and allowed nine hits.
"Hopefully we can make it to states this year," Mee said. "I know we can."
Currently, the Saints are in first place in the MFC standings. The top two teams in the conference - currently SFC and Central Florida Community College - will advance to the state tournament.
Last season, the Saints finished in third place in their conference. SFC was co-champion of the MFC during Wiggs' first year in 2007. He hopes to win the conference outright this year.
"Every game will be the biggest game of the year until they say we have clinched the conference," Wiggs said.
The Saints will travel to Seminole Community College on Saturday and will have their last home game of the season on Monday at 3 p.m. against Lake Sumter.
