Students who saw the new Axe commercials, which aired on MTV Sunday, may have recognized a few of the actors.
Fellow Gators Justin Ritchey, a sophomore, Chase Den Beste, a freshman and Justin Brasher, a junior, were selected to appear in Axe "Bad Hair Day" commercials after auditioning at the UF Hilton hotel.
All three are students at UF's School of Theatre and Dance.
The audition consisted of a 360-degree spin in front of a camera and a quick introduction, Brasher said.
They were given only a day's notice to be prepared, according to Den Beste. He received a phone call Thursday that instructed him to be on set by 9 a.m. Friday.
The shooting locations included local sites like the Clock Restaurant, Alley Gatorz Bowling Alley and a barber shop.
Each guy was given a bad hairdo to sport. Brasher was "Dandruff Man," Ritchey was "Bed- Head Kid" and Den Beste was "Poofy Hair Guy."
Den Beste said he attributed his successful audition to his role in "Glengarry Glen Ross," a UF main-stage production which just closed. He was not allowed to cut his hair so it had grown out to the longest it had ever been.
"My hair was just huge," he said.
The commercials were also shown on MTV's Web site.
