Forty-five minutes before going on sale, "Twilight" DVDs were out of stock at the Borders on Newberry Road.
By 10 p.m. Friday, about 70 fans were waiting anxiously in line to get their hands on a copy of the movie, which tells the story of a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire.
Elizabeth Sam, who arrived at 3 p.m., was the first person in line.
"I called yesterday, and they said come early, so I did," said Sam, a student at Santa Fe College.
At 10 p.m., Borders staff began to distribute lavender tickets, which guaranteed customers copies of the DVD. Tickets for special edition DVDs were sold out by 10:03 p.m., and regular DVDs were sold out by 11:15 p.m.
Several activities were planned to occupy everyone until midnight, including "Twilight" trivia, a scavenger hunt and a raffle.
After spending six hours in Borders, Sam said she would do it all over again.
"I'm looking forward to waiting in a lot more lines for the next three movies," she said.
