In Wednesday's article that covered President Bernie Machen's town hall forum, I was appalled to see that what I said was taken out of context in order to beef up a mediocre story.

I would like for the readership of the Alligator to note that I fully support the administration in this time and completely understand that the administration is unable to know at this point what will happen next year.

While I am worried that my program may be cut, I am more worried that the UF student body will take what this writer said to be accurate. This town hall forum was open to the student body and gave Machen the ability to reach out to students and see what their concerns were, which is genuinely what happened. Had the reporter been listening to the forum and not circling the room like paparazzo, she would have noticed that.

As for how my quote was taken out of context, I am ashamed of the quality of the Alligator's writing staff. I would call this article a facade of muckraking journalism, but I am afraid that this term would be too lenient on the writer. I implore the editors of the Alligator to invest more time in reading the articles presented to them by their staff.

Not only will this raise the writing quality from poor to mediocre, but also change its image from being the tabloid with the crossword to being a respectable piece of journalism.
