Last Thursday's Alligator article on the City Commission's first-in-the-nation vote to implement solar energy incentives shows why it's important for all UF students to vote in the Gainesville city elections on March 24.
Commissioner Jeanna Mastrodicasa was a leading voice for the new solar energy plan, which allows residents and companies with solar panels to sell back energy to GRU. Similar programs overseas have generated profits for consumers and have been wildly successful in promoting renewable energy adoption.
In addition to her energy work, Mastrodicasa has been a strong advocate for students and our community, working on public safety, economic growth and equality for all.
