The weather wasn't the only thing freezing Wednesday.
The Santa Fe College (19-6, 5-2 Mid-Florida Conference) men's basketball team was cold from the 3-point line, yet managed to defeat Seminole Community College 67-61.
The Saints shot a miserable 1 for 12 from the 3-point line.
"I felt like there were parts of the game when we were not playing as hard as we needed to be," SFC coach Chris Mowry said. "This is a game we had to have."
Saints sophomore guard Aaron Holmes continued his reign of dominance Wednesday. Holmes scored 25 points, 14 of which came in the first half, and went 15 for 16 from the free-throw line.
Although they froze from the arc, SFC shot 80 percent from the free-throw line and had two players, Jon Nolton and Marvin Davis, who were perfect from the line.
SCC sophomore guard Brandon Robinson provided 19 points, including four threes for the Raiders. Freshman teammate Kayo Taylor provided an additional 10 points for SCC.
Turnovers sunk the Raiders' ship. Their 18 giveaways resulted in 25 Saints points.
For their next game, the Saints will travel to Ocala to face the only MFC team who has defeated them in two seasons Saturday - Central Florida Community College.
"We have three games left," Mowry said. "But the only one we can worry about right now is on Saturday against Central Florida."
Not only is there a desire for payback, there is a need for it. Currently, CFCC is in first place in the conference. The team that finishes in first place is automatically in the state tournament.
"They are a very good team. They beat us here by 3," Mowry said.
